Colbert is located in Bryan County, Oklahoma  and is the first town across the Texas-Oklahoma border. Colbert is in the Durant metro area but is only 8 miles north of Denison, Texas. This bustling town on the banks of the Red River is near the Denison Dam with Lake Texoma in their backyard.

Colbert's population is only about 1100, but this vibrant community is growing every year because of the influence that Lake Texoma brings to their area. The weekends and holidays bring in the Texans as well as the Oklahoma folks to this Texoma Country playground. Every year, more "Snowbirds" come to the area for the Lake Texoma activities and the mild winters.

Fishing is great in the area! Lake Texoma is known as the "Striper Capital of the World," and is one of a few lakes nationally where the striped bass reproduce naturally. Other popular species in the lake include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, white bass, hybrid striped bass, white crappie, black crappie, blue catfish and channel catfish

A few minutes west of Colbert, you will find some of the best primitive camping anywhere along the Lake Texoma shoreline. The Platter/Lakeside Trail has  24 miles of trail that is a multi use trail for hikers and riders. Primitive camping is permitted at both ends of the trail, which may be accessed from either the Platter or Lakeside Recreation Areas. Both Platter Flats Camp and Lakeside Camp have boat ramp, picnic area, campsites, drinking water, group shelter, and restrooms. For more information, call 580-465-4990.

The nearby Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma has a huge impact on their local economy, with the two casinos that bring in millions of dollars everyday. The Choctaw Casino Resort and the Choctaw Casino Bingo, located just north of Calera along U.S. Hwy 69/75, is a thriving area with economic success.
